The top three teams at the Phoenix race all employ graduates of MMI:

• Team Geico Honda has over five MMI graduates on the team. Brian Kranz is the technician for Eli Tomac.
• RCH Racing has three MMI graduates on the team
• Carlos Rivera is the technician for Ryan Dungey, KTM/Red Bull.

Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb scored his first career Supercross victory in the 250 SX West battle in Phoenix, crossing the line more than five seconds ahead of second-place rider Malcom Stewart of GEICO Honda. Troy Lee Designs’ Jessy Nelson, winner of the opening round at Anaheim and overall division points leader, grabbed the final step on the podium.

All three 250-Class podium winners have MMI graduates for technicians:

• Eric Gass, technician for Cooper Webb – Team Star Racing Yamaha
• Derik Dwyer, technician for Malcom Stewart – Team Geico Honda. Derik was also awarded the “MMI/AMSOIL Top Tech Award” for the Phoenix race, earning him a $1,000 check to his name!
• Jordan Troxel, technician for Jessy Nelson – Team Troy Lee Design/KTM
